My Husband Is a Good Man

Read in BM

I really want to share with the people closest to me just how amazing he is and how lucky I am to have him.

But I can't tell anyone. I can't tell my sister because her husband is a total freeloader (biawak hidup). She basically lives like a single mother of five children plus one—her husband. If I tell her, I don't want her to feel the painful contrast between our lives.

I can’t tell my mother either. She always says that I’m lazy, that I can’t survive without a husband, and that my kids will eventually love their father more than me. I'm not lazy (though I'm not super hardworking either), and my kids love me. She rarely has anything nice to say. It feels like to her, a woman has to suffer first just to be considered a true woman.

I also can't share how good my husband is on social media because I'm terrified of the evil eye (ain).

And because of that...

Everywhere you look, there is so much content and gossip about bad husbands—husbands who cheat, who are flirty, who are freeloaders, abusers, or beat their wives. It's always the bad stuff.

But I want to challenge that.

I want to tell the world that good husbands do exist, and one of them is mine. In fact, there are so many good husbands out there, but we, the wives, just can't talk about it. If we do, people get annoyed, they criticize us, or they get hurt. People don't care about stories of good husbands; they only want the drama of the bad ones.

I want to give hope to all the single women out there that there are good men who will treat you like a queen. I used to daydream about being treated like royalty, but looking at myself, I never thought it would actually happen. Yet, that dream became my reality.

I want to tell you: don't lose hope. Don't assume that there are no good men left. Don't settle for a guy just because you're afraid you won't find anyone better. Good men exist!

You are precious and highly valuable. There is a man out there who will treat you right. Never settle for a bare minimum guy. Just don't.
