Ghostbuster : Frozen Empire

Read in BM

Spoilers ahead! If you haven’t watched it yet, don’t read this just yet.

Yesterday, I watched Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire because my kid wanted to watch it. I wasn’t really in the mood for it because I thought it was Afterlife, which I’d already watched and found a bit boring.

The movie started with them chasing a ghost right away. That scene was pretty exciting, and my kid was thrilled too.

The scenes that followed were great as well. I honestly didn’t expect it to be this good. I thought it would be just an average movie.

My favourite character is Nadeem. I didn’t expect him to play such an important role. And I definitely didn’t expect him to eventually gain control over fire, especially after seeing how excited he was just to bend a little flame at first.

I really like his character because he didn’t run away when he was given that seemingly impossible task. Instead, he stayed committed and kept going, even though he knew his own limitations. But he remained optimistic and gave it a shot anyway. I like that.

The comedy was great too. He didn’t try too hard to be funny. He was just naturally funny without even trying. His comedic timing was spot on. The humour didn’t get in the way of the plot. If anything, it made the story even more enjoyable. This guy is really good!

Another thing I enjoyed about this movie was how every character had a purpose, even the minor ones.

For example, Podcast suddenly showed up in the car to operate the drone while all the Ghostbusters were outside holding those devices. Then, when everyone was stuck and didn’t know what to do next, the female ghost suddenly started a flame. Nadeem immediately caught the flame and used it to do his job, even though he wasn’t entirely sure he could pull it off.

Later, the veteran Ghostbusters all worked together to free the stuck ghost-sucking machine, and eventually, the giant ghost was sucked inside.

What I love about this is that there isn’t just one hero everyone has to rely on. Instead, all the characters work together to save the world, each contributing whatever they can. Nobody is just standing around watching while one person does all the work.

I really love this kind of storytelling.

I hope I get to watch more satisfying movies like this!
